A weight of less than 20 kg, large ears and a long body help make this cat an excellent hunter. The big ears give it a great hearing. The long legs allow the serval to jump almost 3 meters vertically into the air and catch birds in flight. The long forelegs are also used to pull prey out of their deep caverns. The serval live on the savannas of Central and South Africa.
